Scientific Program

Summer School Program

The program aims to give background on homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic reactions, recent information on catalyst characterization, preparation and development  and the use of catalysts toward Green and Sustainable Chemical Processing.  Topics covered include

  • Kinetics of Catalytic Reactions,
  • Advanced characterization techniques,
  • Types of Catalysts, e.g., Supported Metal Complexes and Clusters, Solid Acid Catalysts, Oxidation and Reduction catalysts, Metals and Ligands
  • Design and Synthesis of Porous Nanomaterials for Eco-friendly Heterogeneous Catalysis
  • New Insights on Catalytic Reactions,
  • Industrially Relevant Reactions Requiring Green Processing e.g., Fine and Specialty Chemicals,
  • Homogeneous Catalysis by Metals and Ligands Complexes
  • C-C Bond Formation, CO2 Fixations and C-O Cleavage Reactions over Heterogeneous Catalysts
  • Recent Developments in Novel Environmentally Friendly Approaches, such as Biorefinery,  Biomass conversion, Microwave reactor, and Photocatalysis
  • Molecular level modeling of heterogeneous catalytic reactions.

The school program is given in Table below. In total, there are 22 lectures,  eight of which will be given by six academics from abroad. The remaining talks will be delivered by national academics.  The last 5 min of each talk is for questions. There is also poster sessions arranged, during which the young researchers attending the school can share their studies with each other.  During the free time and gathering times in the evenings, students will have chance to contact and interact with the lectures to facilitate the exchange of ideas.  The program will also involve a half-day long sightseeing tour to the ancient Greek City Ephesus, İzmir, Turkey.
